February

On February 1, soon-to-be-LHS-graduates may obtain a scholarship application from the high school Counselor’s office.

Completed applications are returned to the high school Counselor’s office on or before the last day of school in February.

Trustees meet to determine the dollar amount to be dispersed in the form of scholarships.

March

Applications are sent to the National Dollars for Scholars office to be scored.

National Dollars for Scholars scores applications for the Luverne Dollars for Scholars program.

National Dollars for Scholars returns the application forms to the local chapter.

April

Scholarship amounts are determined by Trustees.

Names of qualifying students are attached to each perpetual scholarship.

Scholarship booklets are prepared.

May

Students are informed by letter if they have been selected to receive a scholarship.

Qualifying students return an acceptance form, informing the Chapter of where they plan to attend school.

Scholarship certificates are publicly issued to scholarship recipients on Awards Night.

June

Dollars for Scholars information, in booklet form, is distributed to all who attend the LHS graduation ceremony.

July

Information regarding each Luverne scholarship recipient, along with the award amount and the name of the post-secondary institution to be attending, is sent to the National Dollars for Scholars office.

Information regarding scholarship recipients is mailed to all donors who have established a perpetual scholarship.

A copy of the scholarship booklet is usually mailed to all LHS graduates with the July edition of the Alumni News.

September

A letter is sent to all second-year scholarship recipients who were awarded a scholarship greater than $2,000.  The dollar amount greater than $2,000 is mailed to second-year students upon receipt of qualifying data.  The check is made payable to the student's post secondary institution.

November

A reminder letter is sent to all first-year scholarship recipients.

December/January

Upon the receipt of a qualifying letter, a check is issued to first-year scholarship recipients.  The check is made payable to the student's post secondary institution.
